A Better Way Earth

Recycling is good for the planet, but  there has been much media coverage on why it can be detrimental.  One of the biggest pitfalls in recycling is consuming more disposable items, because they can be recycled.  A plastic bottle of water can be recycled, so you buy all your water in plastic bottles.  Not all of those bottles will end up in the recycling plant and the caps (made from a different non-recyclable plastic) cannot be recycled at all.  Instead of saving the environment by using recyclable plastic, you actually add to the amount of plastic bottles that enter the world.

There are many trustworthy recycling companies that save tons of waste from landfills.  However, there are also those recyclers that collect recycling for fees, then dump it in landfills or ship it to foreign countries.  It is critical to find a recycling program that is monitored by government agencies that can be trusted.

Recycling building materials has become more mainstream in architecture to keep costs down and meet growing demands for eco-friendly construction.  One of the ways builders recycle is from the building site itself.  If trees must be excavated, the lumber can be used in the structure.  There is a popular new trend to think outside the box and make use of materials not previously considered for construction, such as; soda can to insulate walls and tires as planters to create a sustainable wall.

Whether you are beginning a small home remodel or a large scale house building project, the use of recycle building materials can save money, keep usable materials from the landfills, which in turn reduces greenhouse gasses and dangerous carbon emissions.  It can also provide new directions in design and make every structure a work of art.
